October YAPI News and Notes
October YAPI was exceptional. We had new performers in both age groups: Two in the 12 and under group and two in the 13-19 year old group. Meghan Wolff played violin. She has only been studying violin for a month and already she played 3 songs. We can’t wait to hear what she learns in the next 30 days! Miciah Auden and Tavia Harrell sang a cappella together. What beautiful voices! Samantha Lee from San Marcos sang and played guitar, including an original song as well as covers. All of these performers are great additions to the YAPI performance community and we welcome them back anytime.
Lauren Wolff played guitar and sang several new ones in her vast repertoire of Taylor Swift songs. We always look forward to which one she will learn next. Natalie Shanklin and Abby Wetzel performed both separately and together. Together they performed all original material! They are quite the songwriting team. Abby generally writes the lyrics and Natalie writes the music. However, both girls have written complete songs on their own in the past.
If you have not heard the original material of the YAPI performers of all ages, or the performances of any of the other participants, you are really missing out! Everyone does such a great job performing and the original material is outstanding!
Thanks to the great audience that came to listen to October YAPI. Thanks to everyone who helped to set up the equipment and tear it down. A great big “thank you” to DuAnne Redus, owner of Maui Wowi, for supporting YAPI. It’s nice to have an appropriate venue for YAPI. Thanks also to all those special people who forward this on and help get the word out about YAPI!
